Being my first time in US, to see Americans in their native habitat, as it were, it is clear that they are gorgeous:
- They cheer at the end of good films; they want you to know they enjoyed it
- In reality they are all hippies at heart: they just like to be friendly.
- Thet are all full of hope. Half of them hope the world is going to get better; the other half hope it will get worse, just to prove themselves right.
- You do not have to ask for a glass of tap water in restaurants – they automatically give you one and then come around to top it up, without you asking for it.
- They are genuinely happy to help you in shops.
- Fox News. It is so biased it is funny.
- They don’t care whether I love them or not; it makes not a jot of difference to them. Nor should it.
Coming soon: 7 of the things I hate about Americans
Hi Al
ReplyDeleteI've never posted to a blog before so hope it works! Hope you are enjoying California - I know I did all those years ago ! Looks like there's less muscle on Venice Beach than in the old days or is it too cold in December? I'd recommend Hollywood and Newport Beach and Universal Studios tour and definitely turkey on the beach on the 25th. Have a really brilliant Christams with love from Dave, Tim, Jeremy and Donny xxxx
Hi Alistair,
ReplyDeleteJan pointed us towards your blog today and it's briliant.
I was so sorry not to speak to you on Saturday, we were thinking of you. Great to catch up with Jan today and hear all your news.
I love your post today. We really enjoyed Americans when we were in Florida at Easter. they really are pleased to see you, go out of their way to help you and genuinly want you to have a good day. A tad perky in the morning but it's infectious and good for cynical brits! After our initial suspicion we joined in enthusiasticaly.
Lots and lots of love
Sarah Adrian and Ella

Wow...it certainly is weird to hear ourselves discussed like lab rats. :)
